My name is Brittany La’Vell, and I am the founder and creator of Building a Beautiful Soul. I am a native Virginian, born in VA, and raised in Maryland, and then eventually ended back here in Virginia. I’m a writer, have a passion for the simple things in life. and joyfully enjoying my single season.
I currently attend a little ol’ Church of God in Christ church in downtown Fredericksburg, VA. I’m a business graduate, and outside of my 9-5 job, I am a freelance web developer, (I’m a techy gal and love all things techy). When I’m not at work or at church, I like to listen to podcasts, read, watch YouTube videos, find new worship music, learn, go thrifting (I LOVE all things vintage), buy journals, and just enjoy nature.
Some people may know me from my first blog, Vella Sol Styles, which was a fashion blog that I had to put down because The Lord was calling me here; to Building a Beautiful Soul. I thank God because due to my obedience, He has used B.A.B.S. to open doors and bless me with opportunities to be featured on two Christian websites, to present and speak at an international COGIC AIM Convention, share my blog posts on an online radio station, and touch souls all over, all for His glory.
I just love The Lord, and I thank God for saving me. It’s funny because I never imagined myself here, in a place where I’m totally sold out for Jesus. When God gave me my purpose to share His gospel and encourage others through my words, it was then when Building A Beautiful Soul was birthed and created. I wanted to create an outlet where I can share my experiences and testimony in hopes to build women up to live for Jesus.
The title of my blog came from the idea of God turning our ashes into beauty (Isaiah 61:3), and by doing so we must first realize that beauty starts from within. It’s a mindset renewal, and purification process of our hearts, and full transformation of embracing the newness The Lord has to offer if we surrender our lives to Him.
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.” Isaiah 61:1-3 KJV
1 Thessalonians 4:18 “Encourage one another with these words.”
