One evening my husband decided we should take a walk since the weather has been behaving lately. It was nice to go out as a family for the first time on a nice walk around our neighborhood.

Little Liam was chilling the entire time (WIN!). Not only was it good to get outdoors but it was refreshing to spend some quality time with the hubby.

During the walk it came to mind about my body and how it is slowly but surely getting into good shape since I have given birth. Though I didn’t gain much weight during my pregnancy; I was sick 95% of the time, my body was jacked up. After birth our main priority is taking care of our baby because being outside the womb is new to them and the obvious they cannot care for themselves.
Just as much as we are dedicated to taking care of our little blessings, we must not forget to take care of ourselves so that we can have the strength to give our all. The problem that most women have, is that they try to speed up their recovery when that too is a process – A process that you must be okay with going through.

I had to go to physical therapy because I literally could not walk without my leg feeling like it was going to give out on me. I learned from my PT just what really happens to a woman’s body during pregnancy; how things spread out of place. It’s just so amazing to me how God created a woman’s body.
As time went on, I noticed that my body was readjusting itself back to normal and my hip and leg pain was decreasing. It was a process and I had to give it time. If I would have jumped on prescription medicine, I might have slowed the process down because I would’ve been affected elsewhere being sick because my body doesn’t handle prescription medicine well. Instead, with natural remedies (stretching from PT) and being patient, I gave my body time.
It’s good to have “Snap back” goals, but please let your body go through its process. I mean, you just gave birth to a whole human that took NINE MONTHS to develop. I’m sure it’ll take time for your body to readjust and get back in shape. For my skinny mommas like me, it’s not always about weight gain or loss, it’s also about the internal that can be out of shape, (bones, muscles, hips, etc.). Your whole body is affected during pregnancy. So, be gentle with your body, and enjoy the process!
Let’s talk … Are you in a rush to “snap back”, or are you being patient with your body?
Here are some of our little pictures of our walk 🙂
