Hi Beautiful People,
Quick message: I believe there are a lot of Christians who doubt the true power of the Holy Spirit. There are many beliefs and different doctrines on how one receives it and whether it is necessary to have. Well let’s look to the Word.
According to Acts 2:38 one can receive the Holy Spirit after repentance, and being baptized,
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Acts 2:38 KJV
According to Luke 3:16, only God can baptize you with His Spirit, not a pastor, or a scripted prayer, but God Himself.
“John answered, saying unto [them] all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:” Luke 3:16 KJV
According to Luke 11:13, one shall receive, if they ask God, because it is a gift and God will hold no good gift from those who belong to Him.
“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall [your] heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” Luke 11:13 KJV
According to John 3:5 , one can not enter into the Kingdom of God without it.
“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” John 3:5 KJV
According to Acts 1:8, and Joel 2:28, one shall receive heavenly power as a benefit of having the Holy Spirit.
“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Acts 1:8 KJV
“And it shall come to pass afterward, [that] I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions..” Joel 2:28 KJV
According to Acts 2:4, one shall speak in an unknown tongue (speaking in tongues, praying in tongues), once they have received it.
“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” KJV
According to Romans 8:26, The Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalf to pray what we do not know to pray.
“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” Romans 8:26 KJV
So according to scripture, the Holy Spirit is very important, very powerful, and very much necessary in our Christian walk. One thing I love about the Holy Spirit, is the intercession is does for me. There are times when I catch myself repetitive praying and running out of words because I am focused on one issue when there is so many other things I need to pray for. The Holy Spirit comes in and intercedes and it is such a beautiful experience. Praying in the Spirit (praying in tongues), is such an intimate and freeing feeling. When I pray in the Spirit, I feel the weight lifted off me and the power of God’s Spirit inside of me going to work.
When you pray in the Spirit you are building an intimate connection with God. You are allowing the Holy Spirit to intercede on your behalf on things going on in the spiritual realm that you aren’t even aware of. That’s why it’s vital in your Christian walk to be baptized and filled with Holy Ghost (Spirit), with the evidence of speaking in tongues! It is important because we are living in a time where there’s so much going on spiritually that needs to be dealt with, but we are more focused and worried about what’s going on in the natural realm. When you pray in the Spirit you are operating in faith and moving out of the way with your selfish, repetitive redundant prayers ( that has God heard a million times already) and allowing what you don’t know what to pray for to be released. Sometimes we can get so repetitive in our prayers and ask for the same thing a million times to the point we start displeasing God in prayer and we forget to pray for the important things.
“But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.” Matthew 6:7 KJV
We think well if we pray about this specific thing three times in prayer, God will definitely hear us. That is not operating in faith, He heard you the first time. In these instances, it is so good to have the Holy Spirit. I personally thank God for His Spirit and I personally think it is the best gift besides life because it helps us to stay connected to Him.
So I encourage you, if you have not already received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, to seek God and make sure you have repented of any sin and ask Him for His precious gift. If you have it, Praise God, spend more time soaking in God’s presence and allow The Spirit to takeover. Don’t get afraid, but rather embrace. I used to be afraid until God had to show me to embrace it and let it flow 🙂
