I remember I used to dread the day of Jesus’ return.⠀
⠀
I was fearful. I wasn’t sure if I was going with Him. At that time in my life, my heart was still in the world.⠀
⠀
I was upset. I had dreams and my own desires I wanted to accomplish and bring into fruition. I just didn’t have time to surrender my all for His will for my life. Quite frankly, I had no idea what that was, and didn’t really want to know it. I knew what would be contrary to what I wanted.
⠀
I just wasn’t ready, and I would get upset in my heart whenever people would say “Jesus is coming soon”. I wanted Him to take His precious time so that I could do all the things I wanted to do before being totally sold out for God.⠀
⠀
But, it was one day, The Lord woke me up and showed me that God does not work on my time and that tomorrow isn’t promised to me. I could be taken from this world that I so called still had ties to before He came back, and unfortunately miss out on spending an eternal life with Jesus.⠀
⠀
Not only that, but everything that I obtain and save up from this world will perish and burn away.⠀
⠀
It’s only what I store up in heaven that will last.⠀
⠀
It’s only what I do for The Lord that will last.⠀
⠀
I share that to say that we aren’t promised forever, our life is but a vapor (James 4:14). We don’t know when our last breath will be. It’s not always about a scare tactic, rather it’s a wake up call.
We should strive daily to live ready for our time to meet Jesus.⠀
⠀
We can’t allow fear to keep us from hearing and accepting the truth? If we love Jesus, we should long to be with Him, right?
⠀
Granted, we desire to live out our purpose here on this earth, but we must always keep in mind that this world is not our home, we are only in preparation for our home that is to come with Jesus in eternity.⠀
⠀ “For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.”⠀
Hebrews 13:14
Let’s chat! What is the one thing keeping you from truly living sold out for Jesus? Once you think of it, pray that Jesus helps you to put Him first and have a growing desire of Him.
