When you are filled with mixed emotions, it’s important to turn to God for answers. It’s easy to move on your feelings but nines times out of ten, they will lead you down the wrong road. God will show you clear as day, if you be still and acknowledge who He is and then wait in expectancy for His Word to speak to you.
Today I was having mixed emotions about the elections and just life in general. So many changes, and some I’m still not ready to embark. I had so many thoughts I wanted to post and share, each one I know for a fact would have led to controversy responses. (I made a controversy Facebook post one day and let’s just say, I’ve never had that much engagement on a post in a long time 😂). I’m not afraid to share what I want to say, but I am wise and honor God enough to stay silent and try to be led by His Spirit.
I shared that because I was going to speak my opinion on the 2020 elections and what I think will come from the results, but instead I vented to my husband and then he advised me to pour my heart out to God.
One day as I was listening to a Christian station, driving home from work, I had this vision that broke my heart. I just seen everyone celebrating and honoring someone to be in office that boldly stands for things against God, those same people were later begging God for mercy from His judgement because of what America will face because of their desperate desires for change and equality.
I needed answers because I was feeling as if I was on the wrong side of the fence and that I needed a heart check. (Which I did and I think everyone does on a daily). But what I’m getting at is, I was sad and felt like the world as I [we] know it, would not be the same anymore.
I always ask God why do I always separate myself from the followings of this world? Why do I always have to be the black sheep that thinks differently? Then I was reminded that those who follow God, are called to be separated from this world.
When you’re filled with mixed emotions, it’s important to turn to God for answers. It’s easy to move on our feelings but nines times out of ten, they lead us down the wrong road. God will show you clear as day if you be still and acknowledge who He is and then wait in expectancy for His Word to speak to you.
I feel the way I do BECAUSE I am following the Word of God. And FYI, Following the Word of God comes with its own persecution and uncomfortableness.
So fast forward after venting and crying out to God for answers to help me with the way I was feeling I was led to Psalm 46:10. Be still and know that I am God.
I had to be still. I had to quit worrying and wondering. I had to stop playing the victim. I had to simply acknowledge that God is … God! And that whoever is in office will NEVER change that. I had to accept the Word of God and just live my life pleasing Him without being caught up in the “last days”. But just simply living … for Him.
Yeah, it’s sucks what’s taking place in the world, but if we take God’s word serious, we would also take it serious when it says this world is not our permanent home. We can’t change Revelation. Things will unravel leading to Christ’ return, but we are still to be the light to help change and save souls.
Our job as a Christian, is not to win people over to the Republican Party. Our job as a Christian, is not to disown the people of the Democratic Party. Our job as a Christian, is to LOVE people to Christ. People are dying in their sins, and we have the answer to life; Jesus Christ.
Even the ones with the hardened hearts, we are to love them unto Christ. Because Jesus is coming back and we don’t want to be found hating people, or hiding from our call to be who God has called us to be at a time such as this.
So I encourage you to be still and know that God is still in control! I encourage you to be separate from this world even when it’s lonely and uncomfortable and everyone else is doing what’s accepted and feels right in their own eyes. God will honor your commitment and faithfulness to Him.
Don’t live your life based upon who’s in office. Live your life based upon who God is.
No matter who America crowns, God is still on the throne! So be still and acknowledge Him!
