Rise Up and Walk Forward!

Jesus said to him, ‘Rise, take up your bed and walk” John 5:8

In John 5, there’s a story about a guy who had an infirmity (set back) for thirty-eight years. The only way he knew to be healed was by stepping into a pool called Bethesda. Every time he wanted to go, there was no one there to help him in. Jesus saw this man, lying in his own pity party and asked if he wanted to be made well. The man replied with self-pity, that he had no one to place him in the pool and whenever he tried on his own, someone would go before him. He probably expected Jesus to join him with sympathy in his pity, but Jesus replied with, “Take your bed and walk!” When the man got up, he was immediately healed and was able to walk; just like that! Since God is the same God that He was beginning of time to now, then why can’t we apply this story to our lives today?

You may be dealing with your own infirmity/setback in life; a body illness, imperfection, flaw, weakness, addiction, stronghold, baggage, etc. You may even throw yourself pity parties, making up excuses, and blaming others for your stagnation. Well today it’s time to end that party; you’ve danced long enough to that sad song. No more feeling sorry for yourself, no more pity parties and no more waiting for others to get things done. Stop depending on man’s power, when you have God’s power inside. Use it by rising up and walking forward!

Why do you have to wait for a relationship to be happy? Why do you need to be rich to feel secured? Why work for a title to feel worthy? Why do you have to depend on others to help you all the time? What are you waiting for? Time is passing by and others are claiming their blessings and deliverance right before your eyes.

Jesus says it’s now your time to take up your bed and walk! It’s time to grab that setback, that illness, or whatever you have holding you back, and WALK!

You want happiness? Start walking to God and He will complete you. (Psalm 37:4)

You want ungodly soul tie deliverance? Stop communicating with that person and break it all off. (2 Timothy 2:22)

You want to feel loved? Start spreading love. (Luke 6:31)

You want to be delivered from lust and sexual fornication? Ask God daily to renew your mind and guard your heart. Start keeping boundaries in your life. So do not answer anymore late calls/text from the opposite sex. You have to do your part in striving for purity. (Matthew 5:28 and 1 Corinthians 6:18)

You want to be delivered from an addiction? Pray, surrender it to God, and if you have to, sign up for a rehab if it is really that serious. (John 8:36)

You want a closer relationship with God? Well who has the power of that happening? You do, because God is always right there; so start being intentional with God. (Revelation 3:20)

You want your finances in order? Stop buying everything because you want it; and just because it is on sale does not mean it needs to come home with you. Learn self-control. Instead, give back and tithe. (Matthew 6:24, 1 Timothy 6:7-8, and Ecclesiastes 5:10)

You want to get married? Start seeking the face of God so He can prepare you for what you think you are ready for. (1 Corinthians 7:34)

You want to be delivered from fear? Get out that comfort zone and start walking like a fearless servant of God. (2 Timothy 1:7)

You want to be delivered from gossip? Stop entertaining it and when around people, who gossip, switch the topic or love them from a distance. (Ephesians 4:29 and Proverbs 16:28)

Can’t find a job? Tired of being dependent upon others? Get up and create your own job while still applying for jobs, OR start asking God to reveal your talents and use them to bring in income. (2 Thessalonians 3:10)

You don’t want a boring life anymore, need friends? Get out of the house and go get involved! Join a church, and ask God to break any social fears then WALK LIKE HE ALREADY FIXED IT! (1 Thessalonians 5:11, and Romans 15:13).

You want to be healed from your past? Start looking ahead to Jesus, forget the former things, and walk into the new being that you are after being saved. (Philippians 3:13-14, Isaiah 43:18-19, and 2 Corinthians 5:17)

Whatever is holding you back, it is time to rise from it. It may cause some inconvenience, and may cause you to step outside your comfort zone, but God wants you to use that power inside of you. You have to walk as if you are already delivered! As you are walking, remember to praise God; for it is by His power inside of you that are able to walk into your deliverance. Walk boldly, and with confidence. God didn’t give you the spirit of fear, but of POWER. That POWER He has given you is the same power that was in that man by the pool. He had it the entire time, but he allowed his laziness, self-pity, excuses, and a blame game keep him stuck and bound. Do not allow Satan to have another day with your power. Take it back in the name of Jesus, walk into that deliverance and declare freedom in your life. God has heard your prayers, counted your many tears, He KNOWS your situation, but he is saying beautiful soul, it is time to Rise up and Walk Forward.
